Of our three 100% Ka'u Classic coffees, this is the smoothest. The dark roast mellows the brightness and reveals rich notes of chocolate and sweetness. We developed this roast for our local Hawai'i customers—it's "the people's coffee"—and we're proud it earned a 95-point score in the June 2026 Coffee Review of Dark Roasted Coffees.
"Dark chocolate, black cherry, roasted hazelnut, orange peel, cedar in aroma and cup. Surprisingly lively acidity for the roast level; full, velvety-smooth body. The finish is long, resonant and cocoa-driven."
This coffee consists of the Typica variety, grown in the rich soil and cool climate of the Mauna Loa volcano’s southern slope.
